Toilet in
the 'Water Cube'
(BEIJING, Jan. 28) -- Inside the National Aquatics Center, known as the
"Water Cube," drinking fountains decorated with colorful lighting tubes are
quite eye catching. These drinking fountains will directly supply drinking water
for visitors. In the Water Cube, there are many public facilities like this.
The Water Cube contains nine drinking fountains, and each one of them is
decorated with color lighting tubes, which enables visitors to locate them
easily.
The Water Cube has twice the number of the public facilities as other venues.
Take the toilets for example. The Water Cube has 67 restrooms in total, with 95
Western-style toilets and 97 are squat-style toilets. The women's restrooms at
this venue contain 10-15% more toilets than at other venues.
There is a complete set of barrier-free facilities in the Water Cube. The
elevators for people with a disability are much slower to ensure safety. Each
section of the spectator stands contains an area for wheelchairs.
On January 28, the Water Cube was successfully delivered. During the
Olympics, the audience will have a chance to enjoy the excellent services and
people-friendly facilities of the National Aquatics Center.
