'Bubble
bar' in the 'Water Cube'
(BEIJING, Jan. 28) -- The predominant features of the National Aquatics
Center, also known as the "Water Cube," are its bubbles, which give the whole
venue a random, organic appearance. The Water Cube contains more than 3,000
inside cushions and 110,000 sq m of an outside membrane layer. In the Water
Cube, a special "bubble bar" has been set up so that visitors can have a chance
to touch these water bubbles.
In most areas of the Water Cube, it is impossible for visitors to touch the
membrane layers. But on the second floor of the National Aquatics Center, a
bubble bar has been set up. It is the only place where visitors can touch the
bubbles.
Inside the Water Cube, glass is fully used so that visitors can directly see
the inner parts of the bubbles, which have a great visual impact.
