Chinese marksman Jia proves himself, winning mens 50m rifle prone

KUWAIT CITY, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Olympic champion Jia Zhanbo who won the men's 50m rifle prone gold due to a dramatic failure of his rival in Athens, proved his capability again by walking away with the gold here at the 11th Asian Shooting Championships with a far-ahead 700.0 points.

The 33-year-old Chinese marksman marched into the final by sharing the same leading score of 595 with Indian shooting star Gagan Narang.

Jia showed his indisputable sharpness in the 10-shot final by scoring each shot above ten, including two 10.6 points, two 10.8 points and a 10.9 point.

Narang, who earned an Olympic berth for his country by snatching the gold of the men's 10m air rifle event at the 2006 Shooting World Cup Guangzhou leg, lapsed with a 9.2, a 9.3 and a 9.9 to finish as a distant second with 695.7 points.

The bronze went to Park Bong Duk from South Korea. At the end of the eight-finalist list with 591 points, the shooter made steady progress in each shot and collected 694.7 points in total.
